My name is Shaunta Alburger. (Shaunta Grimes is my maiden name.)
I live in the northeastern Nevada mountains, in a little town called McGill on highway 50–the Loneliest Highway in America. I have a cattle ranch in my backyard (it isn’t mine–but I still get to wake up to cows on summer mornings.) I love to garden, read, write, and take pictures.
I have three kids: Adrienne is 15, Nick is 14, and Ruby is 3.
Two years ago I wrote the first draft of a novel during NaNoWriMo month. It was really, really bad. But it did have the germ of a good story in there. I found an amazing editing partner and spent a year re-writing my story and helping her re-write hers. It won first prize in a contest. I’m finishing up a new round of revisions on it now.
I just sold my first novella to Pink Petal Books. Is there a word in the English language for beyond excited? Elated? Jubilant? Maybe just happy works. I’m happy.
I’m working on my second novel. A spicy paranormal romance centered around a tribe of men from a lost civilization.
